SCHOOL HISTORY

Government Senior Secondary School, Jorethang started as a Primary School in the year of 1969. The academic session began in the newly constructed five roomed wooden building at Daragaon. Mr. C.B. Rai was School In charge. The land for the school building was donated by  Late. Mr. Durga Das Subba , Son of Late. Mr. Bir Bahadur Subba .The school was recognized as Junior High School in the year 1973 and Late Mr. R.K. Sharma was the Head Master of the school with an enrolment of 294 students.In the year 1980, the school was upgraded to Senior Secondary School with Late Mr. L.T. Lama as the Head Master and from the year 2003, it was upgraded to Senior Secondary School with Late Mr. S.C. Khattri as the Principal.As of now, the school has 5 buildings and staff strength of more than 90 and serves around 1400 students from classes L.K.G. to Class XII level. The school offers Science, Commerce, Humanities ,and the vocational courses viz.Information Technology , Retail Management, Multi Skill Foundation Course at the Secondary and Senior level.
